Things to know when planning a DVD:

When including traditional photos:
We'll scan of up to 50 of your traditional photos
-Photos MUST be removed from albums, backings, etc.
-NO photos larger than 8"x10" please
-NO slides, please. Have your slides converted to prints or high-res digital files by a reputable photo lab.
For larger quantities of photos, have them scanned at your favorite photo processing center, and copied onto a CD-ROM

Digital photos:
Most digital photos will work just fine, provided that their original resolution is at least 72 dpi.and 720x480 pixels in size. Older digital cameras that render images at 320x240 may produce blurred or inferior quality images.

For all photos:
Please send photos on CD-ROM, numbered sequentially in this format: Your last name followed by three numbers, ( i.e. smith001.jpg, smith002.jpg, etc.).

You must retain the copyrights to all photos you submit to us for inclusion on a DVD. No copyrighted or published images may be included without the written consent of the copyright owners.

Image formats:
.jpg, .bmp, .tif, .tga are the acceptable formats for images.

Music:
By default, we use royalty-free music. Additional charges may be applied for the use of copyrighted music. Please let us know if specific songs or audio tracks are required for your project.

Video footage:
NEVER send your only copies! Always make a back-up copy of any tape you send to us.
JDSavage Productions will take every reasonable precaution when handling your video to guard against tapes being damaged in recording/playback devices during processing. However, JDSavage makes no warrantee, expressed or implied, as to the safety or playability of your tapes when they are returned. You must assume full responsibility for any damage or defects that may occur.

As video tape ages, it loses magnetic information. When the footage is digitized for DVD, that poor image quality can suffer even more, resulting in video that looks different than it did on the tapes. Sometimes this can be minimized, other times it can't. We'll do our level best to capture your footage as true to the tape as possible.

If you want to simply transfer 30 or 60 minute tapes to DVD, no problem. If you want to include only certain segments of tapes on your DVD, the more precise you are in identifying the areas of the tape to include, the better.
Use your player's "Display" feature to identify the time code index of the start and stop times of the clips you wish to use. Also include a brief description of the segment, (i.e. "start - From the start of singing Happy Birthday - end - after Mary blows out the candles").
Not all players track the tape position exactly the same way, (VCRs are notoriously imprecise), so every bit of information you can include will help ensure that you get what you really want on your DVD.
